Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a term applied to protecting people – particularly the most vulnerable – by acting to prevent harm, supporting volunteers in undertaking their roles and taking swift action where any concerns are raised or harm identified.  In any community, everyone has responsibility for Safeguarding and Child Protection. We want all kinds of Cornerstone Community Church activities to be free from abuse, neglect or exploitation and to respond appropriately to the consequences of such harm wherever they may be found.

Cornerstone Community Church Safeguarding Policy & Practice
Cornerstone seeks to be a caring community of diverse people where everyone can be safe, secure, welcome and nurtured. This means being inclusive of difference whilst at the same time being protective of the church family.

Elders have a responsibility for Safeguarding procedures and have nominated one elder to exercise particular oversight of this responsibility. Elders have also appointed a voluntary Safeguarding Coordinator with specific knowledge and experience to help train and advise the church and harmonise its efforts in making Safeguarding an effective reality.

Working with Children & Young People
All those who volunteer with children and/or young people at Cornerstone Community Church are subject to registration with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and will undergo Safegaurding training to help them keep those they work with safe from harm and act appropriately on any concerns about a child or young person.
